The Ode to Troublemakers is a visual manifesto created for the Nelson Mandela Foundation, celebrating Madiba’s legacy and the courage and love of those who continue to challenge the world. “Madiba,” a name of respect and kinship, represents resilience — the power to turn struggle into movement, and resistance into hope. The film was first presented at the Annual Lecture, echoing Mandela’s belief that peace is not the absence of tension, but the presence of truth. Inspired by this philosophy, we built a piece that pays homage to the good troublemakers.
Using the Foundation’s own archive, we crafted a dynamic visual montage that blends history and the present. Through design, motion, and meticulous craft, every frame becomes a conversation between eras — between Madiba’s fight and the new generations carrying the torch forward.
A story about courage, dissent, and love — because the legacy of Mandela is not a monument, but a movement.
